Post The King of Kong

I just watched The King of Kong.

I loved it. It's touching and funny and far more entertaining than a documentary about the rivalry between two Donkey Kong players has a right to be. Billy Mitchell is cinema's greatest villain.

Any one else seen it?

It was getting alot of air time over on 1up but I cant say I've seen it.

Saying that though, if I do see it anywhere i'll probably pick it up.

I somehow stumbled upon the wikipedia article to King of Kong a few months ago, might actually watch it since you seem very impressed with it.

I watched it and really enjoyed it. The whole Billy Mitchell tape situation, what unbelievable hypocrisy and unfairness.

I was falling in and out of sleep for about half an hour of this film and when I finally woke up properly Billy Mitchell wouldn't play the game live and I didn't really care. I did like that that guy was always wearing his referee shirt.

..and watched it last night. Just brilliant.

In case you didn't know, Steve Wiebe will be challenging Billy Mitchell's score once more live at E3 this year.

Brian Kuh is a PRICK.

I got it for £4 on Play last week; but watched it about three months ago courtesy of a LaveFilm rental. Very good indeed.

Brian Kuh is a PRICK. Walter Day doesn't come across much better, unfortunately.

Walter Day had redeemed himself by the end, I think. (I watched it again on Thursday, what a coincidence!)

Has Billy Mitchell played DK live since the movie was made?

RE: Walter's redemption - I didn't think so. He did the gracious thing of apologising to Steve, but Walter's backseat approach to dealing with the whole matter whilst leaving his acolytes (who were well entrenched in Billy's group) to deal with matters made it look like he took the easy way out. Mispronouncing Steve's name EVERY SINGLE TIME didn't help either.

And his singing: there is no punishment strong enough.

I think so. There's a bonus feature on the DVD detailing some of the further progress made in the competitive Kong stakes, with Billy reclaiming his crown in a sort-of public arena. Brian Kuh and Walter Day were present, but it wasn't a completely open affair if I remember correctly.

God I hate Brain Kuh.

Steve Wiebe is currently trying to break the record live at E3.

Far more watchable than I expected.

I'm a bit confused now actually. Did he fuck up or did he not get enough points along the way before the killscreen?

The latter. But also a bit of both.

The first sentence in that article defies comment.
